What Product Can I Use That Is Similar To The American Crew Pliable Molding Cream?

I bought the American Crew pliable molding cream about a year ago and never used it until a few weeks ago. I started doing the bed head look (I’m a guy), making it look spikey/messy. But the problem is that while the cream works very well to do it (it keeps the hair soft and natural looking), it doesn’t have any hold. And I don’t want to use hair spray because it makes it look hard, wet and not bedheadish.
So what other product, around the same price range or cheaper could I use to create the same bedhead effect but give my hair some hold?
