Define ‘normal’. I initially bought an inexpensive (about $20) flat iron at a beauty supply store that had ceramic hot plates that didn’t work that well. On advice from my hairdresser, I bought a flat iron by Jilbere ‘Titanium Tools’ (with titanium plates; about $40), which cost about twice as much but works really well. They’re around the $10-$15 range, typically. I’m sure most brands are pretty good, but I would definately buy one that has a ceramic plate. It’s much better for your hair and distributes the heat more evenly. Target has some good ones. Mines a ‘Conair’ and I like it…also bought it at Target.

i bought mine and my daugter both one from wal-mart, its a good on i think and it cost 25.00 and its a revlon.
