really cool, trick, if you hold two pairs at right angles to each other all the light will be blocked and you wont be able to see anything, this is bcoz polarized glasses block out all horrizontal light.

Oakley will etch the word “polarized” onto the lower front edge of the left lens (i.e., the left lens when you’re wearing them). If it’s not there, it’s not polarized.
Pricewise the non-polarized, non-customized gascans are $100 and under, the polarized are $145-155.
The standard white Oakley gascans with model #03-474 are *not* polarized. The only way to get polarization in a white frame is to have them customized that way.
Polarization also tends to noticeably impact the appearance of LCD screens (like you’d have on most digital watches) to the point they’re usually unreadable.
Anyway, easiest way to tell is to look for the etching on the left lens. It shouldn’t be difficult to see if it’s there. Standard Oakley practice.

If you go by a car dealership and look with your sunglasses and you definitely see the rainbow effect they are polarized. I just got some prescription sunglasses and I would have never know what the difference was until the lady at lens crafters showed me. Guess you could go there and see if they have a display that shows the difference.

Find some water which has glare from the sun and if it completely disappears (and isn’t just dimmed by the same amount that the rest of the visual field is) then you have polarised sunglasses.
Price means nothing, you could have paid all that just for a brand name.

i’m not sure the real way to tell but my friend got me a pair of polarized sunglasses, and when i walked with them outside the ground looked all warped and farther away then it really was. and it made me carsick. i don’t know if that helps but it looks different then regular sunglasses

    same as motormouth
just hold them to the light and they should become shades in like a minute, if not then no polarized glasses

A lot of times if they are polarized and you look at the screen of an electronics device it will get a rainbow type effect to it.

  8. motormou says:

If they cost $140 they are probably definitely polarized.
Hold them at an angle…you should see the shade change from darker to lighter..

Take them to the North Pole……..only kidding, it’s getting late, thought I would post a joke…..depending on the price you paid, and they should say Polarized. Usually Oakley’s are… enjoy
