My hair is naturally curly but has been damaged by excessive dying so now my curls hang limp and lifeless. It makes my hair look shabby and straggly. I want fresh, bouncy curls but I don’t want them to be crunchy…that’s why I’m kind of afraid to use mousse. Are there any products that those of you with curly hair use to get soft, nice curls that last? Right now I’m using moroccan oil intense curl cream but I’m not really seeing results. Thanks!!

I’m where you are! Well I straightened mine too much and now its kind of lifeless. Don’t be afraid to use mouse! I leave my hair to where it is only about 25% dry. So in other words it still has to be moist, but not dripping water. Also it depends on the length of hair that you have as to how much you put in your hair. Mine is a couple inches past my shoulder and I put in about a good palm full of mousse. But you could start off with a little bit and keep adding a little more to where you feel your hair is nicley covered but not soaking with mousse.
I use soft foam curlers that I sleep in sometimes, as it provides me with that bouncy curl without the use of heat or tons of products. And it takes barely andy work in the morning just to take them out and go.
I also hair curly hair shampoo and conditioner and it definatly helps me with the shapes of my curls.
Using a leave in conditioner can help with the excessive drying. I used aussi three minute miracle and like it better than most (plus it is a good price). However you need to be careful when using leave in conditioners as certain ones will make your curls droop and limp even more.
When you get out the shower only use a wide tooth comb to get rid of knots, because when you use normal brushes they pull apart the curl which gives it that shabby look.
Make sure that you have a shampoo with a good balance of ph. I do not know the number but I’m going to say no more than 6. But don’t quote me on that as I know that it is definetly not for sure.
Using hair dryers will make your curls go pretty crazy. If you absolutley have to use a hair dryer make sure you have a difuser (sorry for spelling)
Hope this helps!
Try a bunch of products from the John Frieda Frizz-Ease line! You can find it at most supermarkets and drugstores and all the products are $10 or less around me.
Though I’ve never dyed my hair…
I reccomend:
Frizz-Ease Curl Around Shampoo
Curl Around Conditioner
One of their Hair Serums in the Frizz-Ease line
Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Spray
They work wonders for my curls!
Still, give it a shot. I found that the spray leaves the very start of my roots a tiny bit hard, but the rest of my curly hairs are soft and a little shiny too.
Good luck!
Put lots of mousse in to revive ur curls.
Then add some gel to give it more bounce.
Try blow drying it with a diffuser while ur head is upside down to give it more volume. Finish it off by hairspraying it
Good luck and hope i helped =]
apply gooseberry oil. and u have to stop using too many dyes..it has many side effects such as this one and also causes pigmentation. use occasionally
they have that stuff out there that can make your curls come back to life and make them pretty. I think it’s like aussie the kangaroo stuff in the purple bottle.
