they are actually probably better for you than normal lenses. especially if driving, or in cases where glare is a problem. LIke skiing or snowboarding.
the polarized feature helps remove the glare from things and allows you to see better and more details. especially good if driving long distances.
You need to wear polarized lenses. Otherwise they don’t block the sun or protect your eyes correctly.
